Help! Mites in hognose enclosure

I just found a bunch of mites in my hognose's (John) water dish which is just a little plastic cup. I haven't added anything new to his enclosure at all or have held or been around any other reptiles or anything. I got springtails for my ball python's enclosure 2 months ago, I put half of them in and kept the container to have them to breed and last in case the others died or anything: It was next to his thing sometimes closed but also sometimes open to give the little bugs oxygen, food, and water occasionally. That container got infested with nats or flies or something because I left it open for too long ig (even though it's inside away from those kind of bugs) and those springtails died.

Idk if somehow some sort of bug crawled from the container into his enclosure or if they just spawned in there at this point. He does have air holes all around the side but they'e about 1cm so not much can get in unless they're tiny vengeful bugs...

It is late as I'm writing this so I will clean his enclosure and bathe him tomorrow, if anyone has any tips, answers, or solutions as to why this happened and how to prevent it please help and thank you!
