Disappointed Small Business Owner
I’d prefer to keep a level of anonymity as a small business owner in the city, but it disappoints me that as a brick and mortar storefront owner in this city for several years, I have never once met any of the members from the current administration. I had really hoped there would we some level of enthusiasm from community development/etc. to meet business owners and help us thrive. Instead, it seems business in the square peaked and is beginning to fall back to pre-Covid life. Several business acquaintances I have collaborated with and have tried to convince to expand into Medford won’t touch it with a 30 foot pole. All of them say the same thing: there’s no city solicitor, it would be a nightmare. I own a house and a storefront in the much smaller town of Mashpee and the transparency, involvement and initiative of the town to help further business in that town dwarfs Medford. I am completely open to it, and would love for things to change. If not, I would love to see a future administration that does make the effort.
