I work in cybersecurity and ive been building a threat intel platform on the side for a while now. Its the kind of project that only works if real people use it, and i have basically zero budget for marketing. So the only lever i have is organic posting. Show up, be useful, build visibility the slow honest way
Except the platform doesnt build itself and i still have a day job and a life. So at some point i started automating parts of the posting. Drafting, scheduling, suggesting replies. I dont like it. It feels gross. But its that or the project dies quietly with 4 users
Heres the part that actually got to me
While i was testing and tuning the automation i started reading the replies coming back on threads. And they were saying almost exactly what my own tooling suggested i post. Same structure. Same talking points. Same little hedges. Like i was watching my own bot talk to other peoples bots
Now i cant unsee it. My rough guess is 90% of what i scroll past is automated. accounts answering each other in a loop nobody is really reading
Im not fully automated yet. Still telling myself im keeping a human in the loop. But honestly it feels like were already past the point where that choice means anything
The two tells that broke it for me
a reply to my comment landing in under 10 seconds
a “thoughtful” response that hits every single point in a long post, perfectly, instantly. no human reads a wall of text and addresses all of it that fast
Anyone else who posts seriously seeing the same thing. Or have i just been staring into the void long enough that its started staring
