Possible future in complex science

Hi, I have recently found out about complex science (I'm doing a masters in physics and took a course in stochastic calculus and a course in complex networks) and really found it interesting. I have a lot of interest in the different branches of physics but it has been a while since I had this much interest in a particular field. Now I have to choose my thesis and I want to do it in complex systems (I still have to choose one from a list a professor sent me) and I want to know what my possible career path could be if I keep this track. My questions are the following:

  1. Is it possible to do an industrial PhD? Are there companies hiring people with that background?

  2. How is the live in academia? One of the things I like the most is the wide range of applications in this field and I want to know if it's possible to move around in different research lines (while staying in complex systems but moving from economy to neurology or astrophysics)

I have more questions but those are the most important ones and I don't want the post to be too long.

Thank you for reading

Website for finding internships, phds and postdoc positions (vibe coded)

Hi, I'm a master student and I will finish next year but I have/want to do an internship next year and then I would like to get into a phd (doctorate) and I decided to build a scraper for different websites. The main problem is that there are a lot of different websites with different offers and I would have to check them all so I wanted to unify them all (or at least a decent amount). Or there are some websites with offers that do not exist or have already expired.

It has one scraper per websites so it gets real offers, in real-time. That does not mean that the same problems won't happen with this one, but at least you won't have to go through 3 different windows until you realize it (if you click it sends you to directly to the offer)

As in the title this is completely vibe-coded I'm not a developer and I don't intent to be, I built it for my self but right now I would like help. Either you can just paste a link to a site or if you want to contribute just DM your github username saying how you can contribute and I will add you to the project (I will check your profile to see if you can contribute or not to the project).

Any feedback is well received even if it is just saying "it is a waste of time" (if you give reasons I would appreciate it, so I can move on to other things and not waste time).

I'm sorry if I'm not saying much, but just to remind comment any link that I should add and if you think you can actively contribute to this project send me a DM.

Thanks for reading

EDIT: I tried to post an image of the state of the web-page but got deleted

Two tailed vs one tailed p-value

I'm doing some research and the problem is that I do not know which p-value to use. In the literature I never see what kind of p-value they are using (I rarely see it specified).

I see that the two tailed p value is more conservative and less biased, on the other hand previous literature says that the expected value (given by the theory) should be lower than the actual value.

Does that give me enough motives to use just a one tailed p value?

Also, in the literature most of the people use one tailed p values, but I'm measuring other stuff that has not been measured, do I still use the one tailed p-value for that as well?

The field is CMB cosmology.

Thank you for your time.
