PALS, Autism, Kinder and On
Hello, My kid will be in PALS for one more year. After which, they may want to put him in TK or K (as opposed to PALS fora third year). If that’s the case, I’ll put him in TK (so he starts Kinder at 6) and transition the ABA services to school so he has support in transitioning to a bigger classroom. He’s currently level 3 due to a significant Speech delay but I think he’ll be fully verbal in the next 1-2 years.
My question for parents of kids with Autism who participated in PALS: Did you you place your child in a “regular” kindergarten class or did you enroll your child in one of the schools that have a dedicated classroom for children with Autism? (i believe it’s different then general special ed.) I don’t know how many there are but I know of at least one LAUSD school in Van Nuys that has one. Not sure what grade it goes til (at least 2nd).
