People who've switched, I've some questions
I use a unibody basic row-staggered keyboard with QWERTY layout (60-80 WPM, peak being 91). I use Arch with Hyprland & Neovim for coding. Due to a bit of pain in my right forearm, I've started to take computer ergonomics seriously & Colemak-DH intrigues me. However, I've some reservations, so here they go:
- How long does it take to get back to your normal typing speed after switching?
- How do lot of the keyboard shortcuts feel as they're often designed with QWERTY in mind (for instance, Vim motions)?
- Considering the steepness of the learning curve being rather high, how worth it is it?
- Best methods to switch over & practices to retain QWERTY efficiency because Colemak won't always be available.
- How does it feel to type on phone since that will probably stay on QWERTY?
Cheers to all!
