Email to manager?

I start my new job next week and most of my communication for onboarding has been through HR. However, I am not sure if I should an email to my manager and introduce myself? Or should I save it for my first day? I just don’t wanna seem rude

Career switch later?

Started working as a Manufacturing Engineer in the aerospace industry, and while I’ve really enjoyed it so far I was wondering about switching to a different position later on.

I’m particularly interested in transitioning into design or testing. For those of you who have made a similar move from manufacturing into design, test, or another engineering discipline, how did you go about it?

GD&T for new grads?

Gonna start an entry level manufacturing/tool design engineering position in a couple weeks. I’ve been trying to get ahead of the curve and learn a couple things before I start. Just wanted to ask how much GD&T do y’all think a new grad should know? I think I am stressing myself out a bit too much and learning every little detail but I am curious to what you guys think.

I recently accepted a job offer to be a manufacturing engineer (tool design) after graduating and will start soon. I’m a bit nervous since I wanna make sure I do a good job. However I am also excited to build experience and learn new things! I wanted to come on here and ask if there’s anything you guys recommend I can do to get ahead of the curve before I start. Any resources or advice is greatly appreciated!
