Halving the €229/mo Pro tier limits while pushing a €509/mo tier is insane

When GPT-6 Astra launched, I was completely blown away. I signed up for the €229/mo ChatGPT Pro 200 subscription believing it was worth every penny for serious development work, and I didn’t think I’d be touching Claude anytime soon.

Then comes the recent email from OpenAI. Starting October 30th, they are literally cutting the Pro 200 usage allowance in half dropping Codex/Work limits from 20x to 10x Plus and Chat limits from 200 down to 100 messages/week, all while keeping the exact same price tag (€229/month).

To make matters worse, their "solution" for power users is forcing us toward a new Pro 500 tier at €509,99/month just to get decent limits and Ultrafast speeds.

Here is the reality from actual daily heavy use:

Astra on Ultra Reasoning mode drains usage limits like crazy. Even at €229/mo, I constantly hit my weekly limits just auditing and running code checks.

For actual heavy-lifting, multi-file code execution, and refactoring, Opus 5.5 is still doing the actual heavy lifting for me with better consistency and zero back-and-forth games.

A $2,500 temporary credit band-aid expiring in December doesn't fix a long-term 50% nerf to a top-tier sub. Paying €229/mo for half the quota or getting nudged to pay over €500/mo for a plan that will still run out during serious crunch weeks is simply not true bang for buck.

I'm downgrading my subscription. Anyone else in the same boat?
