Guangzhou in person shopping
So I’m here for a couple of days. You hear people say don’t bother, all the good stuff you can only get through sellers online.
That’s really not true.
Kinbo is dog shit. Only cheap crap, nowhere for you to try the stuff. Quality super average.
Baiyun on the other hand that’s a very cool experience. You basically turn up, ignore the dudes at the entrance barking at you.
Go to a store selling something you like (you’ll know, it’s all the same stuff minus logos). Then tell them to take you directly to the warehouse so you can pick on the spot, there’s no actual warehouse just an apartment block 5 minutes walk from the store full of apartments which double as stores, they all have a random Chinese dude smoking cigarrets by the door, the vendor who walked you there is
Your key to unlock these places.
Quality was really excellent, on par with what you get with the best vendors, having a general idea of how much these things cost will help you.
Lots of clothing, you can try to make sure the size is right etc. very good.
Here’s the painful bit, you’ll have to haggle, hard!
At first the whole thing is a bit overwhelming but it’s pretty fun, the Chinese are excellent to deal with if
You have some basic manners.
Very cool experience and I reccomend it for anyone who has the ability to travel to
guanghzou to do so.
Food is awesome too.
Ps. I came with a pocketable bag with my clothes on it, I ordered a couple of
Rimowas straight from the New Bailong factory, they delivered directly to my hotel. The proper one with the single hole too.
