Do you ever feel like the TOBY from THE OFFICE at your org.? [N/A]

Not in a self-pitying way. More in the sense that you are technically always in the room, technically have authority over important decisions, and yet somehow remain the person everyone is mildly annoyed to see walk in.

I've been in HR for some years now to know that the function is structurally designed to be the bearer of bad news, the enforcer of policies nobody read, and the first person blamed when something goes wrong and the last person credited when it goes right.

Anyone else or is it just me?

Can we talk about how ridiculous the average JD has gotten? [N/A]

I reviewed a job description just today for a mid-level HR generalist role that required: 5 years experience, proficiency in six different HRIS platforms, a degree in HR or related field, "entrepreneurial mindset," "comfort with ambiguity," and "passion for people."

The salary range, not aligned with any of those requirements. What exactly are we doing here. The JD has become a wishlist written by someone who has never had to hire for the role. And then we wonder why pipelines are weak.

ugghhh!!!
