Oktoberfest 2026 Dead?

Am I the only one who thought this years Oktoberfest had much lower attendance than previous years? It was downright dead all weekend - no lines for the beergardens despite the fact they sell “VIP” tickets which allow you to skip the lines. The establishments I walked into were not busy at all in comparison to previous years and they were all majorly overstaffed. Vendors were packing up hours early on Sunday and angry about paying $2,000 per day for their permit.

You can say it’s the heat, but I’ve been going to Oktoberfest for ten years and I remember it being 100+ degrees one of those years, and it was still busy af with long lines.

I noticed they jacked up the prices on everything in obscene ways, total price gouging. $15 for a single pint of beer, up $3 from even last year.

So, what do we think is going on?

What did we just witness

Do we realize just how insane that West Coast Summer run was?! They absolutely crushed it on pretty much every night. There are at least five shows just from the West Coast which are legit SHOTY contenders. And how many JOTY candidates will come from this run alone?

I’m still going back and re listening / re watching and there’s just so much incredible stuff to go through. They truly burned the west coast / CO to the ground and I can only wonder what’s next. We are so lucky rn

SHOTY 2026

I think we need to do a 16 show bracket to determine SHOTY this year.

JOTY is great but SHOTY really takes it to the next level and requires a deep level of analysis

The SHOTY could contain the JOTY but it definitely doesn’t need to! What say we?

I Met The Devil Last Night Only To Be Saved By An Empress

I may have met god on Thursday but the mushroom gods had other plans for me on Friday. All was well for the first set and then all of a sudden in the middle of intermission things kicked into overdrive and the trip doubled in intensity to a place that was uncomfortable. I ended up with the Devil for about 35 minutes of the second set. I had to sit down for Red Bird but then all of a sudden an Empress came and pulled me from the pits of despair. That was the most uplifting and invigorating “we say oh, what a day to be livin’” I have ever experienced. The Empress saved me.

Overall, fantastic night. Incredible venue. Perfect weather. Got my first foil poster. SD and LA were insane and exactly what I needed. Total spiritual revival. Wow I love this band.

I Met God Last Night

Dark Borne was absolutely incredible but I’m not sure if anything can top the sheer power of that Mississippi Half Step Into Another Dimension 🤯

Closest to the stage I’ve ever been at one of their shows. Row 10. Absolutely an experience. 3rd time seeing them live.

See you all at the Greek tonight

Seeing them on the 13th so how can I say no to the Greek Theater?!

Just got tickets to see them in LA the night after SD. Will be my first time at the Greek Theater. Looks amazing and can’t wait to experience it. And can’t wait to see these guys for the 3rd and 4th time. They’ve been on fire all year long. Let’s go!

SHOTY?

So many to choose from but I’m partial to 5/9/2026 at Viva El Gonzo

That entire second set is insane. The pieces with Jim James were incredible.

No goodbye statement from Giannis?

I’m assuming it’s coming, but it’s pretty weird he hasn’t released any sort of statement yet. Usually a superstar would thank the fans, the city, etc.

Kinda strange how he’s active on social media but hasn’t said anything yet to the fans and the city. Kind of a bad look, to be honest.
