Sorry for the delays, from a Mod
Hi all!
I’ve been on the sidelines as a Mod for a little while now, trying to figure out the best way to jump in and help with the approval queues. I still find myself questioning some of Reddit’s automatic removals of posts and comments, so I want to take some time to re-familiarize myself with what’s allowed in the sub and get more comfortable with the review process.
There are quite a few keywords that can automatically flag a post or comment for review. With only a few active mods, this can slow things down quite a bit. I’d really like to take on a more active role and help get posts approved in a more timely manner, so y’all aren’t left waiting until the weekend and then seeing a flood of the same posts over and over again.
That brings me to a question for y’all!
How would you feel about consolidating duplicate posts? For example, if we get several posts about the same topic, like the meetup post with The Collins Kids, would it be okay to approve the first post submitted and remove the duplicates? That way, everyone can join the conversation in one place rather than having the discussion spread across multiple threads.
Of course, if someone has a different perspective, a new question, or something meaningful to add to the conversation, I absolutely encourage separate posts! I just want to avoid having multiple posts covering the exact same thing, since I think that can make the sub harder to navigate and split up the discussion.
I’d love to hear what y’all think! If you have other suggestions for improving the sub or making things run more smoothly, please share them. I’m happy to hear your thoughts as I get back into the swing of things.
Thanks for your time, your feedback, and, of course, your snarking!
One quick reminder: We don’t snark on appearances, so posts or comments focused on making fun of someone’s looks will be removed. (This tends to be the majority of removals.)
Appreciate y’all!
