The cars in FF2 are not cars that have fallen off the highway.
I support the theory that the backroom is generated based on human memories. If that's the case, then if the car came from the highway, then at least two people's memories would be mixed together. However, the fact that the room maintained a similar appearance suggests that it might be some kind of memory of the protagonist from FF2.
