Duolingo Style Tabla App

Quick question for the community, would people be interested in an app that has a duolingo structure for practice? The app is designed to help younger students practice, and has curriculum curated by Tabla professionals.
Moreover, the app will have an AI accuracy checker, which I can explain in the comments below.

This is within the MyTablaTeacher app, and Reddit keeps taking down these posts. So let me make a few things clear:

This app is not a substitute for live Tabla teachers. The AI feedback will never match a real Tabla teacher. The app is meant to be an add on for teachers, so they can encourage practice for their students. The app also contains a Teacher studio where they can post curriculum easily for larger classes.

Please send dms for further questions. Updates will come from social platforms like reddit, as well as our instagram, which is MyTablaTeacher.

Gamechanging Tabla App (Repost)

Hey All,
For some background, I am an Developer and researcher with a specific interest in Music Information Retrieval. I have also played the tabla for over 11 years now. I wanted to gauge the Tabla community for how interested teachers, learners, and students would be in a comprehensive Tabla app designed for Asynchronus learning, and practice. The app trained on datasets that contain over 28,000 strokes, and use 4-way tabla bol classification to verify playing accuracy (using MFCCs, central spectroid etc.) . In more simple terms, it puts bols into 4 categories, and uses context, as well as frequency to determine if the right bol was played.
Structure:
The App is structured similar to Duolingo, which ideally encourages students to practice more, adding a gamified effect to the app.

Notice:
THIS APP IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE TABLA TEACHERS WHATSOEVER.
Although bols can be played and players can practice from videos within the app, along with AI recognition of playing, no AI or tool can EVER replace the expertise of a Tabla teacher. It is a great starting stage for beginners to learn the basics, and will hopefully encourage more people to play Tabla, but again by no means is it nor can it be a replacement for human teachers. This tool is designed to aid tabla teachers to assign work, and give out asynchronus work while encouraging players to practice with feedback in that work.
LAUNCH:
Our expected launch date is September 15th, 2026. (Updates will be posted on all socials)
Paywall:
We will always have a free tier service for our app. However, the AI tool requires a significant amount of API usage, and we therefore may need to set up a subscription cost for the AI tool use. However, I have come here to seek support for funding, and wanted to see if people are interested enough to crowdsource this process.
Not for Profit:
This app does not seek to make a profit, as revenue will be distributed only to cover costs and expand the usage limits for users.
Crowdsourcing:
If you are interested in supporting this project, please reach out to the email below. Any funding will directly go towards API operation costs, and will greatly help usage limits for users.

Questions for the community:

  1. Would you use something like this for your own practice, or would you rather just record yourself and listen back?
  2. If you're a teacher, would you consider recommending something like this to students for between-lesson practice?
  3. What thekas or compositions would you want covered first?
  4. What's your biggest frustration with practicing tabla without a teacher present?
