Do bones need to be degreased?
I have a large collection of bones, most of them from animals dead for over a year by the time I found them. For the ones that seem to have a smell or are particularly yellowed I soak in soapy water for a few days to degrease. They usually come out still yellow, but if the smells gone, I just leave them like that. Is that bad? Sources seem to say that if they're not matte and still somewhat yellow they aren't finished degreasing, but is there an issue with that if they don't smell?
Long story short, is it ok to leave my bones as I found them if they don't smell bad, instead of whitening and degreasing?
