I'm no car guy, but I've never seen this!
Clearly it's toasted, do I need to replace it or can the carb go right next to the housing without it?
I don't drive in the winter fyi...

Died in 1 season. No sign of any live bugs but lots of holes and tunnels.
Cut it down, can it be stored and burned or dispose of it?

Blew the bearings completely off.
Luckily home safe no major damage.

The fan runs, but then a loud hum and click , every 30 seconds or so, and occasionally trips the breaker.
Could it be a start up cap?
Is that an easy fix?
