Theory 1: Who is WHYMAN?

1a. A computer/machine. Constantly sending morse code messages. Copied Senku's voice exactly by either recording and replaying it, or a voice changer. We know it's been around for thousands of years since Matsukaze experienced a Medusa attack. It detects what's happening, and determines what to say based on the situation.

1b. Someone(s) toggling repeated messages on and off on the computer/machine. As for who that person is, and how many people?

1c. WHYMAN is a lineage of people who have lived and died on the moon for thousands of years, similar to Ishigami Village. They are dedicated to keeping the life on Earth petrified.

1d. WHYMAN is a small group of people taking turns in petrified sleep, they are all thousands of years old, and likely have the same goal.

1e. WHYMAN is a singular person, constantly being petrified, and unpetrified in an advanced way we're not familiar with. WHYMAN is immortal, and has already been around for thousands of years, so why not constantly send the same message over and over again for a few days until something happens. "What's 17 more years?" Kind of thing. I can imagine an immortal person with wide, creepy, unsettling eyes, locked in on absolutely anything it does. He can copy voices, or maybe uses a machine for that, but copying voices is believable. This one may seem stupid because, "Who would do that for that long?" But I think an immortal being with tons of power who's already been around for some thousands of years would think and act different than any of us would.

Theory 2: Who activated the Medusa?

I thought it was obvious, but I guess the characters didn't think of it. The Medusa activated because it detected that it was in a vacuum. It didn't activate until a while after it was in a vacuum for the first time, at a seemingly random moment. This also makes sense because of Matsukaze 's backstory. The Medusas detected they were in a vacuum, started their timers, and those timers ended around the time they reached the ground. They must have been programmed to do a 20 meter blast some amount of time after they've detected that they're in a vacuum.

Idea I thought they were doing, but they didn't: Attacking WHYMAN to buy more time to investigate.

Senku said he was building a rocket so three people could confront WHYMAN on the moon, be petrified, then wait for humanity to retrieve them. I was confused and a little upset when I heard this, because I thought Senku and I were on the same page about this!

I thought Senku was going to have the idea to build a rocket to the moon, put the Medusa on board, "Size of the moon, in the time it takes to get to the moon", blast off, wait and prepare for the worst, then watch the moon turn green as WHYMAN (likely) turns to stone. This would buy them a BUNCH more time to properly build a return vessel, so they can go to and from the moon as needed, allowing them to safely investigate without being attacked... Unless WHYMAN prepared for that.
