I tried on this one first and nothing compared afterwards. I wanted something very simple and elegant and it was perfect. Im having it made strapless as thats what i preferred. Just got to find a veil and shoes!

(20k) Wedding before house buying

Hi,

EDIT: I did put this in a reply but when I say wedding before I mean we get married Sept 2027 and probably start putting offers in a couple months before that or around then. We have the money to get married just about with a couple more months of savings and 15K in LISA for house deposit, So it will just be trying to save up another 20k or so which we can do in less than 10 months. Though house buying and wedding around the same time sounds dreadful 😆

Me F22 and my fiance M22 got engaged january this year, we orginally were going to wait 3-4 years to get married and buy a property first. We had a few offers fall through on flats, we then decided a house would make more sense. However when i looked at the budget i realised we would only be able to save like 100-200pm on our wedding.

So I had the idea of why dont we get married first while we are saving 2000-2500pm and then buy a house. I orginally thought 15k would be enough but my budget is easily in the 20k range with things im probably forgetting. We have found a venue we like for £5950, i want to put the deposit in but im struggling with the concept of spending our house deposit on one day.

Someone ensure me our plan makes sense and im not going to regret spending this money 🫠🫠 If im going to have a wedding i dont want to cut corners and half ass it but dayum a whole house deposit hurts.

for context idk if it matters but we are privledged in that we live with my parents at a low cost but we will be paying with all our own savings.

Absentee Freeholder

Hi,

We had an offer accepted on a property where the freehold company dissolved and the crown declined ownership. The lease is 980 years pretty much so shouldnt have to worry about extending. There is a management company which collect service charge for maintenance who are active. Im waiting for our lender to get back to us regarding if we can get a mortgage.

The alarms are still just sounding for me regarding remortgaging and reselling like 5 years down the line as we orginally planned. Theres also like 3 other flats that have been on the market a while for a much cheaper price so if they do accept our mortgage situation it will almost definitely get down valued significantly.

Im feeling very stupid for not doing proper due diligence and I dont know whether to proceed or not, we really liked the place. Has anyone been in a similiar situation or any advice?
