Bioinformatics + Security Clearance Synergy?

Hello all,

I am a CS student(Post-bacc) and my background is Biology.

I have two plans.

  1. Go to graduate school in Bioinformatics(Non-thesis track preferably) before finishing this CS program.

  2. Join the Army Reserve and get a TS clearance.

I just vaguely think the security clearance + bioinformatics degree would help me set my foot in the public sector/defense contractors. Probably there would be demand across national laboratories, government agencies, and Military.

Does anyone know if it would be helpful for me to get a bioinformatics related job in those fields?

Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Retail IT experience questions

Hello guys,

I’m working at some European retail company from IT department.

Our job scope is mainly maintenance, network management, and Tickets.

Does anybody know whether it would be considered as CS or IT experience when I apply to the retail companies in the US?

Because I will eventually settle down in the US in about 2 years, I would like to know if I should continue this career. To be honest with you, I’m a bit concerned about AI replacement. I think some sort of jobs can be easily replaced by AI, and it is one of them.

Can anybody share insights whether I can survive or get a job in the US with this experience?

Truly appreciate your help.

BS in Bio and Post-Bacc in CS

Hello guys,

I’m thinking of reaching out to professors taught me at my first college for some data processing experience.

My plan is to apply to master’s programs in bioinformatics with the experience before I finish the CS program.

I would go for any sort of work schedule, part-time or unpaid, and I’m thinking of working at a lab for around a year prior to applying.

Do you guys think it’s going to be enough to strengthen my application to the programs??

Unnecessary input ,though. My career trajectory has been quite messed up. I’m trying to navigate through this new path given to me.

I would greatly appreciate your advice !

Thank you in advance.
