I’m going to Japan next November after getting my Working Holiday Visa. My goal with this visa is to really explore Japan from top to bottom, so I’d like to spend the year living a fairly nomadic lifestyle, without having a permanent place to stay.

However, there’s one thing I’m struggling to understand: the whole issue of having a fixed address and changing your address.

From what I understand, you’re required to register a residential address with the local municipality and report any change of address.

But how does this actually work if you’re constantly travelling around and don’t have a permanent residence?

Is there really no other option than:
- knowing someone in Japan who is willing to let you use their address (which isn’t my case);
- paying for a permanent place to live that you’ll probably never go back to;
- or officially changing your registered address every time you move?

Are there, for example, any services that provide an address or handle mail reception/forwarding that are suitable for this kind of situation?

If anyone has done their Working Holiday in Japan while being completely nomadic, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. How did you handle your registered address and the administrative side of things?

Je me permets ce poste car après plusieurs recherches sur ce subreddit, j’ai vu un poste similaire mais sans vraiment de réponse.

Je pars au Japon en novembre prochain suite à l’obtention de mon PVT. Mon objectif avec ce visa est de vraiment découvrir le Japon de long en large, et j’aimerais donc passer cette année de manière assez nomade, sans avoir de logement fixe.

Néanmoins, quelque chose me bloque, cette histoire d’adresse fixe et de changement d’adresse.
De ce que j’ai compris, il faut déclarer une adresse de résidence auprès de la mairie et signaler chaque changement d’adresse.
Mais comment cela fonctionne-t-il concrètement lorsqu’on voyage régulièrement et qu’on n’a pas de logement permanent ?

Y a-t-il vraiment aucune solution autre que :
- connaître quelqu’un sur place qui accepte de nous fournir une adresse (ce qui n’est pas mon cas)
- payer un logement fixe dans lequel on ne retournera probablement pas ;
- ou changer officiellement d’adresse à chaque déplacement ?

Existe-t-il par exemple des solutions de domiciliation ou de réception/réexpédition du courrier adaptées à ce type de situation ?

Si certains d’entre vous ont fait leur PVT au Japon de manière totalement nomade, je serais vraiment intéressé par vos retours d’expérience. Comment avez-vous géré votre adresse et les démarches administratives ?
