Question About An Image Intensifier For My High Speed Camera
Hi guys, I am new to night vision technology, so please forgive my potentially stupid questions. I have a Vision Research Phantom v7.1 high speed camera that I am very interested in using for capturing TLEs like sprites and jets (electrical discharges above thunderstorms). My initial plan was to purchase a used PVS14 or similar and then acquire the appropriate adaptors and just basically point the camera lens into the back end of the PVS14. After some research, I've discovered a potential problem of lag/delay time when shooting at high frame rates (around 10,000fps). TLEs last only fractions of a second long, and it is my understanding that most Gen2 & 3 tubes aren't fast enough to capture brief events like these without significant ghosting/smearing. I am currently looking at a Hamamatsu C2400-80 unit, which is specifically designed for scientific applications, but again I am unsure if this would even be fast enough. If anyone here can point me in the right direction or provide any information, I would be greatly appreciative.
