One of my latest smaller charcoal works — a portrait of a white horse on toned paper. This piece is now available in my Etsy shop.
I continue exploring charcoal as a medium, and the more I work with it, the more fascinated I become by its versatility. In this drawing I was especially interested in how differently charcoal can behave depending on the way it is applied. I used the texture of the paper itself, worked with the charcoal flat and on its edge, and softened some areas with a sponge. Combining these different marks on textured paper created a richer surface and a more varied visual rhythm.
