Hysterectomy compete!

Hysterectomy compete!

I finally got my hysterectomy! I needed one due to fibroids. I previously had two myomectomies, went on to have two healthy pregnancies, then fibroids came back with a vengeance. I had multiple, the largest one was 9cm, and I was constantly anemic and getting iron infusions. It was a sad decision, but ultimately the right one for my health. So far recovery is a bit painful with movements and I’m quite bloated, but I’m very happy to have the procedure behind me. Good luck to all going through it after me! And bravo to all who have done it before me 👏🏻 women are rockstars

Last minute surgery option

Surgery scheduler called today to offer me an August 18th surgery date, but then offered a slot on June 10th (today is June 5th) due to a cancellation. I don’t think I have enough time to prepare (mentally, leave at work, have 2 kids in the throes of summer camps and activities etc). It feels like an impossible decision. They wanted to offer it to me because I have been having intense bleeding and I’ve tried two IUDs that won’t stay in with my large clots. My largest fibroid is 9cm and I have adenomyosis. I’m not sure I can handle two more periods this heavy, but I’m scared to do it so soon and the logistics make it feel impossible. I have a supportive husband and family, but it is a lot to throw on him last minute with his own work and all the kids stuff. Curious if anyone has advice on this situation 😵‍💫🫣

I know a lot of people have shared stories about reactions to INFED- I figured I share mine. I had gotten Venofer many times in the past with no adverse reactions. Insurance says they want me to switch to inFed for some reason. They start the test dose and all was well for 6 minutes, then I suddenly felt an ELEPHANT on my chest. I could not take a deep breath. The nurses came fast and stopped the IV. My blood pressure went from 114/70 pre-infusion to 145/80 and my body temp rose as well. About 5-10 mins later I was able to breathe normally again, but holy moly it was so scary. They ended up giving me IV fluids and watched me for a while after. This wasn’t a true allergic reaction they told me, just a severe sensitivity. They were kind of implying that being anxious could make reactions worse, I told them I actually wasn’t anxious and this definitely wasn’t a panic attack (I’m familiar with those lol). My doctor wants to go back to insurance and ask for Venofer again, but honestly I am scared of that now too. I keep feeling a heaviness in my chest but I’m pretty sure at this point it’s anxiety from what happened. Anyway, in case anyone else has had a bad reaction that wasn’t anaphylaxis I would love to hear from you to know I’m not alone here 🫶🏻 ugh, the things we go through..
