Just write your OC fanfic without adding an unnecessary reader insert tag.

Why do writers keep doing this? The OC already has a full name and appearance, yet they still add “/reader” and “reader insert” in the tags. I got frustrated after seeing, like, the 10th OC fic in a character/reader tag, so I decided to ask why they put the reader insert tag and if this was some kind of new rage bait.

I responded to their reply, telling them that I think they’re misleading people and misusing the tags. I also said I thought my response was tame, and I offered an apology if I sounded rude. I was just frustrated with the amount of misleading tagged works. I also added that it gets to a point where this isn’t even considered a reader insert anymore when the character has a full name and appearance already created.

I also asked if they could consider removing the reader insert tag, so it wouldn’t lead to people being misled. Then next thing I knew, I got blocked, which surprised me since I don’t think I was that rude, to be honest.

I don’t mind if a reader insert has a name, especially if it’s just a nickname, but having a full name and appearance makes it feel far from a reader insert.
