Natural dyeing of coral
Does anyone have experience dyeing coral ?
I've been given some dead pieces of coral, found on a beach. They are all white or near white and my friend wants to colour them for a creative project. She knows I do natural dyeing / botanical printing so asked if I could colour them naturally.
We tried wrapping them with a) onion skins and b) eucalyptus bark and steaming. The bark did leave some colour but I think we really need to immerse the coral in a simmering vat of dye material. Has anyone tried this ? Also curious to know if anyone has dyed rocks, sticks or even bones this way.
