rehoming my darling boy (advice wanted!)
hello everyone, first off the top because i know how the internet can be — i’m not looking for judgement of any kind, i just need help.
i adopted my 1 y/o MBK almost a year ago, i was super excited to take care of him to the fullest extent, do everything i could for him, etc etc. he was my first pet in my current apartment and i love him dearly.
however, in recent months, my partner & i have fallen on a lot of hard times — primarily we’ve both been thrown into a shitty financial situation, having to move out ASAP & not being able to take him with us most likely, as well as my chronic illnesses are catching up to me, and it’s affecting both my care for myself as well as for him. i’m in too much pain to get up most of the time, and i know snake care isn’t active in the way that a dog would be, but it’s still a lot on my body, esp with working a ton & no pain management (yet).
he also currently is having a shedding issue that has persisted for the last couple months. i’ve taken him to the vet twice, but it was $130 each time where they essentially just held him for a few minutes & said “idk what’s wrong he seems fine, just make sure to upkeep the humidity!” and i can’t afford any more appointments, or frankly any treatment if he ended up needing that.
i love my son, and that is why im asking for advice on how to find people who’d be interesting in rehoming him, honestly for a small fee even, it’s not about money for me, i just know that i can’t keep caring for him in the way he deserves, he needs to go to the vet badly and i can’t provide even that for him, and i want him to live his fullest life.
any advice would be greatly appreciate from anyone who’s been in a similar situation before and was successful in rehoming their snake, or any local advice as well (i’m in PDX!)
thank you guys! :)
