Need to be a genius to pass CKS?

Hi,

I want to know the truth, how hard is the CKS really?

It took me two attempts to pass CKA and three attempts to pass CKAD. I studied about two months for each of them. I barely passed them, achieved a low score just enough to pass.

I haven't tested my IQ but I know I'm not a genius.

I want to go for the CKS but I'm afraid it's above my level.

Thanks for your insight.

RHCSA feeling discouraged

Hi everyone,

I've been studying for RHCSA v.10 for about 3 months on and off between work. And I've already booked my exam.

But I think there's is no way I'm going to pass this exam.

I mean I understand the content pretty good but I'm having a hard time remembering everything. There are so many commands and then there are flags for each command you have to remember as well. And on top of that you have to remember the exact sequence of commands.

And then there is also the fact that there seems to be no real good course that covers all the objectives. At least I haven't found it. There seems to be something missing every where I look and who knows if the materials out there are really accurate. I feel as if I had the official materials things wouldn't be so hard.

I'm using chat gpt to explain any concepts I have trouble understanding which has worked well. However I still don't feel confident. I have loads of saved chats and there is no way I can remember everything.

I've passed the CKA and CKAD which are also performance- based tests and considered difficult but this exam feels like it's on a whole other level.

I've had thoughts on cancelling my exam and giving up all together. As if I'm in way over my head. I don't know really know what I should do.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

This is the materials I'm using:

Red Hat RHCSA RHEL 10 with Exam Labs - Pearson Cert Prep (Video) with Sander Van Vugt

What's the secret to passing the az-104?

Hi everyone,

I'm not new to cloud. I know the basic terminology and can deploy basic services. I want to get into devops and every role touches cloud in some way, I'm not super interested in cloud but I need the badge on my CV.

I'm interested in taking the az-104 but I don't want to waste my time. I'm not going to try 3-4 times like I see some people doing. Absolute max 2 attempts I would say. I'm looking to spend a maximum of 1,5-2 months of studying.

I know this is a hard exam and I want to know what the differentiator is between people passing on the first attempt and people needing several attempts or even not finishing it all.

Thanks,

RHCSA RHEL10 reset root password strange behaviour

I reset the root password in rhel10 using this procedure:

e → init=/bin/bash → Ctrl+X

mount -o remount,rw /

passwd root

touch /.autorelabel

exec /sbin/init

And it works fine if login using the GUI as root with the new password. But if I login in as another user and then switch to root using sudo -i or su - it's still using the old password. I'm following Sander van vugt course on oreilly and he shows the same procedure. He stops the video after login to the GUI as root with the new password was successful. I should'nt have to worry about this for the exam?

I asked chatgpt what the problem could be and this is what it says:

>For RHCSA, that's the important proof that the password reset worked.

>Also remember that exam environments are typically configured in a straightforward manner. If you encounter a situation where sudo -i seems tied to an old password while direct root login uses the new one, that's more likely a peculiarity of the lab setup, cached credentials, or a custom sudo/PAM configuration than a failure of the password-reset procedure itself.

>A useful exam mindset is: if root can log in with the new password and su - works with the new password, then the password reset task is complete. Move on to the next objective rather than troubleshooting an edge case unless the task explicitly asks you to.

Remote exam camera placement

Hi everyone,

I'm getting ready for my rhcsa exam. I've never taken an red hat exam before and want to prepare for it well.

According to the PDF e-book on the remote exam requirements and info you should use an external camera even if your laptop has one built it, and it says specifically that:

"Your face,

hands and keyboard should be visible throughout the exam"

So I'm wondering where the camera should be placed.

If I put it on the laptop lid my face would be visible but not my hands, just like it would if I used the built in camera. And if put it on the lid and point it towards my hands then my face wouldn't be visible.

Should you place the camera on a stand or how should you place it to satisfy the requirement?

Thanks!

Where can I download ISO for remote exam?

Hi everyone,

I have purchased the rhcsa exam. As I understand to take the exam remotely you should download some sort of ISO file to boot your computer with the testing environment.

I want to download it and make sure it works before I schedule the exam. When I purchased the exam and got the confirmation email there was no mention of the ISO.

And also on the exam scheduling page it says nothing about the ISO. I'm using this adress to schedule the exam: https://rhtapps.redhat.com/individualexamscheduler/#/Dashboard

So my question is where can I download this ISO?

Please excuse my ignorance if I missed something obvious. I have never taken an red hat certification before. I'm very excited to take the rhcsa.

Thanks so much!
