DOTW / Virgin (Lorde) parallels?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to hear some similarities between Lorde's Virgin and Muna's DOTW.

The opening tracks ("It Gets So Hot" / "Hammer") have some sonic and lyrical similarities - the synth, the general stripped back feel, and themes of heat ("Sun beats down on the concrete ... She's so hot when she's putting on her makeup, and she'll sweat it off when she's in the club, it gets so hot" vs. "There's a heat in the pavement, my mercury's raising, don't know if or it's love or if it's ovulation...") are reminiscent of one another to me.

Similarly, the closing tracks ("Buzzkiller" / "David") are also sonically similar to me- largely stripped back with a beautiful melody juxtaposing the choppiness that both tracks transform into, plus the distortion and the track panning back and forth left to right toward the end of the tracks.

I love both albums and am curious if others have found any other similarities or have any thoughts on potential influences?
