The interviewer told my current manager I was planning to leave before I got a chance to say anything

I interviewed for another job earlier this week, and before I even had a chance to decide how I was going to handle the situation, the interviewer told my current manager the whole story. We live in a small town, so apparently they know each other and talked about it over lunch.

My manager pulled me aside the next day and told me she knew I was leaving. She repeated several things I had said in the interview almost word for word, including that I was planning to give two weeks' notice. It felt extremely invasive and upsetting to hear things from a private conversation repeated back to me at work.

During the interview, I made it clear that I wanted to speak to my manager myself if I accepted the offer. But instead, this woman took it upon herself to tell her everything before I even had the chance to talk to her.

I'm so upset that I'm considering turning down the offer. If they share interview details this casually before I've even started, I don't know what working there would be like. Would this be enough reason for you to turn it down and walk away?

They Gave Me a 2% Raise After Promising Me Much More, So I Quit and Walked Out

My manager had been telling me for months that I was going to get a 12% raise. None of it was put in writing, and after nearly three years without any raise, the figure they gave me today was 2%.

I tried to talk to him about the difference, but he brushed me off and said we could discuss it another time. When he went out for lunch, I left my keys on his desk, clocked out, and texted him that I was resigning effective immediately.

I was doing the work of several positions and was stressed all the time, all for about $72,000 a year. I don't have another job lined up, which is a little worrying, but staying there would have been worse. They relied on me for a lot of the day-to-day work, so my absence will be very noticeable. I'll start applying for jobs elsewhere tomorrow.
