Accused of going over the limit at target.
Hello everyone! I don’t usually post on reddit that much but i feel like this story needs to be heard given the current state of the hobby. I have been collecting since 2022 and today after some university classes I wanted to go check my hometown target to see if they had any packs. To my surprise they did have and I went to the card section to get my 2 Pack limit. This is where the story sort of takes a turn because when I go to grab the packs an employee stops me and says in spanish “Weren’t you here earlier?” I obviously respond no and they start questioning me but i didn’t think much of it and went about my business. I pay and start opening the packs right outside the store and that’s when the who i’m assuming is the manager comes outside as i’m opening the packs up he starts telling me “I had about 3 employees tell me that you went over the limit for today” and to my surprise i start obviously defending myself saying that i only stepped foot once at the store and that i was grabbing my two pack limit etc etc. That is when he starts telling me that he’s going to check the cameras and potentially ban me from buying cards ever again at that location specifically if he sees me buying more packs today. I was willing to show said employee my bank transactions to prove i haven’t bought anything else from target today but he didn’t budge. Mind you i’ve never broken the limit rules at any target since the big boom happened and I genuinely got pissed off at this interaction. I get that the hobby is going through some rough waters with the scalping situation but there no reason for employees to start accusing regular people of going over the limits and potentially getting banned from buying cards. Unless i have some doppelgänger running around breaking rules and stuff there should be no reason for me to be accused of going over my two pack limit. This boom needs to die down man it’s getting out of hand.
