Dads 49yo HM experience

Looking for any guidance.
My dad’s 49, he’s been working high pressure jobs since he was 19, went bankrupt in his 30s, built his company back up 7 years ago.

He had his first episode in March this year which we thought was a stroke, it was about a week in hospital before we found out it was was HM

He’s on preventative medication now, he had insurance for covering work he wasn’t able to do for 6 weeks but he’s just disclosed to me that they wouldn’t pay out because he didn’t disclose arthritis in his right big toe.

His job is insanely high pressure which doesn’t help, and because of insurance not paying out he essentially had to keep working which has meant he never had the chance to fully recover.

What can we do for him?

TIA

Unexpected visitor!

20km inland in my parents backyard! Called DOC and they said it’s definitely unusual but not cause for concern

Monthly salary budgeting

My monthly salary people, how do you tend to budget for those nasty 5 week rent periods?

I always catch myself off guard and realise I owe a whole extra week worth before my next pay cycle

Any tips appreciated

P7R Focus beam issues

Anyone with a P7R core know why the beam focus seems to be spring loaded? As in I twist the head to switch from beam to flood and it twists itself back to the beam setting

This could be the way it’s made but in that case I’m not very happy with it

Should I leave the ANZ KiwiSaver scheme?

I don’t really invest but would like to know if I could be getting more from my KiwiSaver, currently on the growth fund

I have roughly $27,000 (not including my wife’s KiwiSaver, which is roughly $20,000) saved all going towards a house deposit, wanting to know if I was to move where should I go? Or should I just stay where I am if I want to buy within the next 5 or so years

Daiwa leguna LT4000C for a first SW rod?

I have the LT2000 for trout fishing and have no complaints
Thinking of just getting a combo set for a first wharf/kayak rod
Any similar priced alternatives welcome

This dude was easily the length of a 2 dollar coin, I’ve sent photos and location to MPI thinking it’s a hornet, or is it just a freakishly big wasp?
