I’m so conflicted with my son.

My son (9) has a 14 prism diopter. (I’m probably saying that wrong). We did one round of vision therapy and then the opthamologist told us we were basically stupid for doing that and wasting our time. She told us our son should have had surgery years ago and we needed to book it right away.

Fast forward to our last appointment where she told us she was on the fence about him needing surgery and she made a comment about how his eyes could do certain things because of vision therapy. (Which she trashed).

Son has dyslexia quite severe and also complains of his eyes flickering. My options are
1- book the surgery
2- do another round of vision therapy
3- both.

I’m looking for any help or advice. My son is the sweetest angel ever.

Talk me out of buying a bigger home.

I live in a very sweet 1200 sf house. Great neighbours, large yard, and an all around good house. We thought it was a starter and just stayed for various reasons.

My reasons for wanting a different house are
- more space for visitors
- a quieter location as we get traffic noise from a major street 4 houses down.

We can afford to move, however it would mean less financial security and would be a huge hassle, and of course mean more cleaning.

Talk me out of wanting a bigger house. :)

I just found out I’m actually FIRE and I honestly don’t know what to do.

Long story short, my husband and I had a meeting with a financial planner on Friday. I didn’t realize how much money we actually had and how much our pensions would be. And I realized that combined with our frugal lifestyle, we can’t possibly spend what we have in our lifetime.

Husband will work for 7 more years. I’ve worked part time since our child was born and was planning on going back fulltime. That isn’t necessary, although I’ll keep working part time because I like it and something in my still feels like we should be saving more money.

I genuinely like living a frugal hippy life. I don’t love travel. I just want my quiet life in my cute house eating simple foods I make at home. We give to charity and will increase that as well.

I guess the question is what the fuck do I do now? I’ll keep working part time. I feel spoiled saying this but I almost feel lost. I grew up with a lot of financial ups and downs so this is really new to me.
