Do I cancel my 147?

I scored 147 in Sept. I’m writing in Nov. and possibly Jan.

Timing is my main problem and lack of practice. I scored 162-168 on the few untimed PTs I took. I only took one timed PT a week before the test and scored 149. On test day, I lost track of time and guessed on about 10 questions per section and didn’t answer one.

I’ve been studying and improving speed. I created a tailored study schedule targeting weaknesses. I feel confident I will improve by Nov. I am aiming for 158-163.

I need to write Nov because it’s the last date UofT accepts. I’m a mature Ontario-based applicant with relevant experience (+ UofT masters) and applying to Ont schools, UBC or UVic. I think my resume positions me well for most schools if I score a 163, and basically a 50/50 chance for UofT.

I’ve had mixed responses towards canceling my 147:
- those who say KEEP the score argue that I may perform worse in Nov so it’s best to keep this score on file.
- those that say CANCEL my score note that I will improve and since it is a very low score, having that on file may be unattractive to schools.

Thoughts? Should I cancel? What are the cons for both?

Is there a drawback of applying to schools for Nov 1 with NO LSAT on file?

I believe in myself there’s no way I’m scoring a 147 or lower in Nov 😭

In need of GTA-based LSAT Tutor

Please do not comment that I do not have the skills to be a lawyer. I am a mature applicant and have relevant experience. I’ve had a hard time studying while working full time.

I took the September LSAT after studying for about 8 months (took a course) and scored a high 140. I’m devastated. This is lower than my diagnostic. I took a course and found it over complicated things.

I think my issue is mostly with timing. When I do untimed sections I perform well. I made the stupid mistake of only taking 1 timed PT before my official test, which I scored higher on than my official test.

I will be taking the November test. I would like to score a 163 at least. I think with my work experience and masters degree this will be sufficient to get into schools, not UofT but that is fine.

I’m devastated, I cannot believe I performed worse than my diagnostic, the other UNTIMED PTs I did, and my one timed PT.

Please suggest GTA-based tutors :(

Oct LSAT Study Tips

Welcoming all advice on studying for the October LSAT!! I just wrote in Sept. Working full time so I need short and efficient bursts of studying.

I took a Kaplan course, however it over complicated the material in a way that doesn’t align with my thinking.

RC comes naturally, but I’ve had to put **a LOT** of work into LR. Especially formal logic. I get the reasoning right - but I struggle to translate my “prediction” to the answer choices.

I’ve barely taken any PTs (regrets, lesson learned). Untimed PTs: scored 168 and 165. One **timed** PT: scored 150.

Any **general** feedback or any comments on the related areas:

  1. LSAT Demon or 7Sage? Or anything else to practice drilling?

  2. Thoughts on Loophole? Just started. Unsure if worth my time given the time crunch.

  3. Improving speed while maintaining accuracy?

  4. Approaches to drilling questions on problem areas? How do you improve with what you struggle with?

  5. Resources with analytics: I need to work on problem areas - so something that can highlight my progress will help.

  6. Approaches to PTs. Blind review? Wrong answer journal? Other feedback?

  7. Tips on making study schedules? I’ve been out of school for awhile so struggling here lol.

I only know 2 people who have written the LSAT but this was about 8 years ago :( my goal is high 160s (trying to be realistic given my timed PT score lol).

Thank you and good luck everyone!!
