My family lives in up state New York and my wife and I live in across the country. Flying home to visit for the first time since thanksgiving and told my mom my wife and I are making plans to go to a nice restaurant in New York City one night and I invite her to be nice. I immediately sensed the tension through the phone and realized I fucked up by brining up going to the city with my MAGA mom. She starts going on a crazy rant about every bad going on in New York right now and I had to finally cut her off and just tell her it’s fine if she doesn’t want to go And that I was just asking to be nice.
