Hygiene Student vs. Tenacious Calculus
Hi! So I have a patient I’m seeing in hygiene school with incredibly tenacious calculus on most surfaces of every tooth, supra and subgingival. I pulled a comparable image from google of the area I’m working in tomorrow. What instruments, ultrasonics, techniques, etc do you recommend? I attempted sextant 6 at her last appointment, and now my teachers want me to split up her dentition (all 32) by 2-3 teeth at a time. It’s not realistic to ask my public patient to come to potentially NINE MORE appointments when I’ve already had her in for 3 for assessments/x-rays/check in, and one scaling.
I’m also at liberty of what my clinic has, but last appointment I used a slim line (felt like it wasn’t strong enough), graceys, and 204s. We have a piezo that I planned to used next appointment! It was so bad my teacher had to come scale for 20 minutes and she struggled to get off the deposits I left. Help 😭 Signed, an exhausted hygiene student during midterm week.
