About Ryoukko's BDA
Blood Demon Art: Black Root Calamity
Ryoukko's Blood Demon Art allows him to create and manipulate living black appendages known as Black Roots. These roots can emerge from his body, spread across surfaces, and take control of the battlefield. Ryoukko combines them with his punches, kicks, and martial arts to overwhelm his opponents.
Root Development: Predator's Garden
Ryoukko slams his foot into the ground and spreads his Black Roots throughout the battlefield. The roots travel beneath the surface, transforming a designated area into Ryoukko's hunting ground. Within this territory, the roots can erupt from the ground to attack opponents, restrict their movement, and keep them under constant pressure.
Root Development: Parasite Fang
When a Black Root wounds an opponent, it leaves behind a small fragment within the injury. Over time, this fragment begins to spread from the wounded area throughout the victim's body, making movement increasingly difficult and causing constant discomfort. However, it can be forcibly removed if enough strength is applied.
Root Development: Blood Moon Rend
Ryoukko gathers his Black Roots into massive crescent-shaped blades. He then unleashes all of them at once in a devastating cross-shaped slash. This attack covers a wide area and possesses enough cutting power to break through powerful defenses.
Root Development: Crimson Devastation
Ryoukko concentrates a massive amount of Black Roots into any limb of his choosing. This can be an arm, a leg, or any other part of his body. The concentrated roots monstrously enhance the selected limb, turning the following attack into a devastating blow. A punch can launch opponents across the battlefield, while an empowered kick can shatter the ground or destroy large structures.
Root Development: Rupture
This technique activates when a Black Root has penetrated deeply enough into an opponent's body. Ryoukko suddenly expands the root from within, tearing apart muscles, tissues, and internal organs. What appears to be a minor wound from the outside can instantly become a fatal injury.
Root Development: Severing Judgment
Ryoukko focuses all of his Black Roots onto a single point and launches them simultaneously. The goal is to destroy a specific limb or body part in the shortest time possible. This technique possesses tremendous cutting power and is often used to sever limbs or finish a battle.
Root Development: Black Calamity
Ryoukko's ultimate technique. The entire battlefield becomes covered in Black Roots, which begin attacking from every direction. The ground, walls, trees, and surrounding structures all become weapons under Ryoukko's control. Opponents are surrounded on all sides, leaving almost no avenue of escape. During this technique, the battlefield itself becomes a living weapon.
Ryoukko's Backstory
Ryoukko was born in a small and impoverished village. When he was still very young, his mother abandoned him and his father. After that, his father became an alcoholic and began treating Ryoukko less like a son and more like someone whose job was to bring money home. Forced to work from an early age, Ryoukko had very little happiness in his life.

One day, he saw a group of children practicing with wooden swords in the village square. At first, he only watched from a distance, but over time the training began to fascinate him. He carved his own wooden sword and started imitating the techniques he had seen. No one taught him; he learned everything through observation.

As the months passed, training became more than just a hobby. Whenever he wasn't working, he spent his time practicing, repeating the same movements hundreds of times.

One day, Kazumasa Hayami happened to pass through the village and noticed Ryoukko training alone in the forest. Impressed by the discipline of such a young child, he watched him from afar and quickly recognized his talent. As a result, Kazumasa invited Ryoukko to join his dojo.

Ryoukko accepted the offer and became a student at Kazumasa's dojo. There, he came to see Kazumasa as a second father and met Kagero Hayami. At the time, Kagero was a shy and insecure boy. The two eventually became close friends. Ryoukko was also the more talented of the two in the beginning, defeating Kagero in most of their sparring matches.

Some time later, Kazumasa was killed during an attack. The tragedy deeply affected both Kagero and Ryoukko. While Kagero responded by training harder and rapidly improving, Ryoukko began to feel as if he was being left behind. The admiration he once felt for his friend slowly transformed into jealousy.

Years later, the dojo hosted a major kenjutsu tournament. The prize was the opportunity to receive training from a true sword master. In the finals, Kagero and Ryoukko faced each other. Despite defeating Kagero countless times in the past, Ryoukko lost. Unable to accept the defeat, he gave in to his anger and attacked the other students. As a result, the dojo elders decided that his behavior was unacceptable and expelled him from the dojo.

After being cast out, Ryoukko spent years wandering alone. During this time, his jealousy of Kagero grew into an obsession. He constantly heard stories of Kagero's achievements, and each one fueled his anger even further. Gradually, he distanced himself from others, and his thoughts became increasingly dark. To him, there was only one truth in the world: power.

His relentless pursuit of strength eventually led him to Kokushibo. Ryoukko did not abandon his humanity out of desperation or a desire to survive. He did it because he wanted to surpass his limits and prove just how powerful he could become. Without hesitation, he accepted Kokushibo's blood and became a demon.

Some time after his transformation, Ryoukko returned to his former dojo. He wanted to destroy the people and the place that had rejected him. He slaughtered most of the students and left the dojo in ruins. Kagero tried to stop him but failed. During their clash, Ryoukko severely injured Kagero's right eye. As Kagero lay on the ground covered in blood, Ryoukko chose not to kill him. Instead, he mocked him, calling him a loser and claiming he would remain one forever. Before sunrise, he disappeared.

Over the years, Ryoukko continued to grow stronger. He developed his Blood Demon Art, mastered the deadly kagune-like appendages on his back, and eventually became powerful enough to earn the rank of Upper Moon Five. He viewed human lives as worthless, treated battles as entertainment, and took pleasure in the despair of his opponents.

Yet despite everything, there was one person he could never forget.

Kagero Hayami.
