Made my own (Headlight Anti-Flicker) Plug-and-play Fused H4 Relay Harness Kit + Stock Winker Hazard

Made my own (Headlight Anti-Flicker) Plug-and-play Fused H4 Relay Harness Kit + Stock Winker Hazard

Now my 50W (35W LOW + 15W HIGH) H4 Bi-LED don't flicker anymore when I use hazard lights

I used 2 relays for both High/Low Beam, but you could use only 1 relay for Low or high Beam

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU NOTICE ANY MISTAKE ESPECIALLY FOR HARNESS

Materials used:

  • 14AWG Wire (16 is fine)
  • H4 Female Socket
  • H4 Male Socket
  • Automotive Fuse Holder w/ 7.5A Fuse (Calculate first, if you use higher watt lights you might go above 7.5A, got the standard fuse holder but mini is better if you want same as stock)
  • Ring Terminal + Splicer/Crimper (For battery terminal)

I use automotive 4-pin horn relays and wired as follows:

Relay 1 (LOW):
30 → Battery + (fused)
87 → H4 LOW filament (female H4 socket low beam pin)
85 → Battery ground (Wire it parallel with H4 Male and Female ground)
86 → LOW trigger of stock h4 harness (male H4 socket low beam pin)

Relay 2 (HIGH):
30 → Battery + (fused) (just wire it parallel with relay 1 #30)
87 → H4 HIGH filament (female H4 socket high pin)
85 → Battery ground (just wire it parallel with relay 1 #85)
86 → HIGH trigger of stock h4 harness (male H4 socket high beam pin)

When you wire it successfully, it will produce satisfying loud clicking sound (both relays click when you switch)

It works by getting power directly from battery, uses H4 sockets to get signal to trigger the relays, no more shared load to your H4 = No flicker!

WINKER HAZARD MODE BONUS

Note: Winker lights and winker relay is stock, as they are completely compatible with hazard, just not included)

What I did with winker hazard:

Got a universal 3-wire switch for hazard (clamp type to handlebar)

My 3-wire switch have 3 wires - brown, blue, and black

Where: black = goes to switch (please test first)

Trace the winker lights wire, orange (Right) and sky blue (Left) (Test first please)

Wire the black to winker switch (gray but please test first), then the rest of the wire to winker lights (don't worry about what's left/right, they will still wink together)

Note: Stock halogen bulbs are 21w * 4 (approximately 104W total load each wink). However, the stock winker 4-pin relay seems like a heavy duty one that could take 21w * 4 max at the same time.

It's been weeks, I forgot the actual color coding for winkers for both L/R, please correct if I'm wrong.

You can hear the relays click very loud/No flicker when using hazard or loud horn

Hello, I tried replacing with racing coil, but CDI gets super-hot, so I used the stock again, now no hotspot in cdi.

Should I replace CDI too if I were to replace the coil? aftermarket coil does produce better sparks that helps with my cold starts every morning vs stock, but the heat might destroy my CDI.

Hotspot forms on top of the CDI module, directly above the socket pins. But stock is still hot but not that much compared to "racing" coil.
