Technique is Official!

It's officially a technique, y'all!!! Smoke petri is now a thing!! I'm gonna try testing this with regular mica next to see if I get the same results, but in the meantime...

Here's the process:

  1. Select your colors, base and smoke color

*Note that I've only done this with neon pigments so far and will be writing the instructions as such.

  1. For your smoke, get a scoop of white and two generous scoops of your pigment

*white base makes the color pop and will help add weight

*I also use spice spoons when measuring out my powder

  1. Soak the powder in just enough IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to coat it and let it sit as you mix your resin

  2. Once resin is, set to the side. Pour out excess IPA from your soaked pigment and stir thoroughly. You’ll want a paste consistency.

  3. Add your resin and stir thoroughly

*I have tiny mixing cups and fill them about halfway

  1. Fill a pipette with the color and set to the side

  2. Mix your base color with the rest of your resin

  3. Fill your mold halfway with the base

  4. Take the pipette and slowly inject the color, starting from the bottom and working your way up and out for each die in a swirl

  5. Pour the rest of your base until full, trapping as much of the smoke as possible

*A thicker stream pour works best here

  1. Cap your mold, evely squeeze out excess, and place in your pressure pot

  2. Check your results after 24-72 hours (depending on how long you let your resin cure based on their instructions)

Hope this helps for anyone who wants to give it a try! Happy creating, and don't forget to keep trying even if you don't achieve it right away! 🥰❤️

Recent Sets!

Finished up some dice for a fellow Redditor!! I love that's they turned out so well and definitely will be tumbling between 24-48 hours more regularly from now on!

Starry Fail?

⚠️ Warning: loud tumbler in background ⚠️

Doing a stars/galaxy challenge, and I'm always bad at these 😅 I did do honey phase but didn't entirely account for the glue trick I use to suspend the glow in the dark powder to sink (it's not that I wasn't aware it could happen, just didn't think all the way through during execution lmao!). I'm in a love/hate relationship with how they turned out. The concept is great, but I know I could do better. Did a second attempt without the glue this morning, so hopefully that goes better.

Curse of Strahd Concept Dice

My DND group are currently playing Curse of Strahd, and I decided to make us some campaign dice! This is a proof of concept set, need to add more white smoke and pull back just a tad on the neon so it's not too clouded, but otherwise ITS A SUCCESS!! May sell this set once I finish making my group their dice 🥰

New Sets!

Sets from my recent tumble polish have been painted!! I officially have finally completed a full cup of my dice sets (nevermind the 3 1/2 I still need to work through 😆). I just feel like I've finally accomplished some headway! What a great feeling to pair with celebrating my wedding anniversary ❤️! First set is a personal remake of a set I made last year, the rest will eventually be sold 😊
