Woolies paper shopping bags in compost and the garden

I'm just wondering if Woolworths paper shopping bags are safe to use as "browns" for my compost bin; specifically, I'd like to load my kitchen green waste into one and take it down the back of the garden each night, maybe tearing it up as I dump it into the compost.

I tend to forget my reusable shopping bags a lot so I end up with an excess of the paper bags.

I was also going to use some of the paper shopping bags cut and laid out flat as a weed barrier upon which I would place EPAL shipping pallets (I'm in a rental and I want to keep my new veggie/herb garden mobile if I ever need to move)

Landscape fabric and soil for milk crate herb garden

Tomorrow I'm going to be starting my herb garden, and I'll be lining milk crates with landscape fabric to fill with soil.

So that I get this right first time, what product landscape fabric should I be looking for? I'm pretty sure I can figure it out but I'm also a little bit ADHD/dyslexic so if anyone can give me a definite option I would be stoked.

Probably something stocked at the sausage sizzle place.

Thanks crew; I've been doing a lot of my research on plants in this sub and this is my first time actually being a "gardener". You all rock.

Sugar alternatives - Stevia, Allulose etc. Ratios and substitution

Hey all,

I've been dealing with a marriage separation and using the free time to expand my food skills. The way I like to teach myself things is by doing some research into the fundamentals and constructing my own recipes based on what I've learned; and recently I've been working on developing cleaner, natural alternatives to the junk I've been eating most of my life.

The other major factor is that I don't have many people in my life that aren't at the very least vegetarian or pre-diabetic.

My latest project has been syrups for my SodaStream. I drink a lot of soda so I've been reliant on the branded syrups but I've been decocting roots and fruits for my own syrup.

The problem is, most of the bases have been simple syrup made from brown sugar (1 cup sugar to 1 cup water) and it's delicious, but time for me to start substituting the sugar out.

I can't really find anywhere that has a simple syrup recipe that explains the ratio exchange, which substitute is better, how to maintain a similar consistency and sweetness, and how to avoid the dreaded laxative effect that comes with these alternatives.

I'm not just after a recipe, I'm looking for a bit of a breakdown of how these sugar substitutes are worked with to get the same result. Obviously I can't just replace sugar 1:1 with Stevia or I'll shit my nipples off. I read somewhere that Stevia is 700% sweeter than sugar, but monkfruit is good, which works best with ginger/sarsaparilla etc and does it work the same with citrus...

The actual info is eluding me. Is there anyone here with experience who could help me?
