12 Days in China "only" Shanghai, Mount Tai, and Beijing. Should we add more places? Like Xi'an and/or Zhangjiajie?
Good morning everyone, we are Italian my partner and I (27 and 25 years old) are going to China in September. This is our itinerary. We decided to exclude Xi'an and the Avatar mountains because they are a bit too far away. This is our draft itinerary, focusing the trip mainly on Shanghai and Beijing. Will we regret excluding the main destinations? What would you modify?
- Arrival in Shanghai at 6 in the morning (relaxed tour around the city without reservations to enjoy the city, Bund, French Concession, and Nanjing Road)
- Shanghai (visit to main sights with reservations, Jing'an Temple and Yu Garden...)
- Suzhou water town (day trip by train)
- Shanghai (buffer day to catch up on what we didn't see, spa relaxation, cupping, acupuncture)
- From Shanghai to Qufu (Visit to the Temple of Confucius)
- From Qufu to Mount Tai (trekking the 7,000 steps, sunset, and overnight stay on the mountain; we really like hiking)
- From Mount Tai to Beijing (sunrise on the mountain and, if we can manage, descent on foot and afternoon train to reach Beijing)
- Beijing Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Hutongs
- Beijing Great Wall
- Beijing Temples and parks
- Beijing (Buffer day, to catch up on what we didn't see or what we liked the most)
- Beijing flight at 1 PM
Thank you everyone
