Urgent advice needed- career dilemma as a 12th graduate
Hello people! So I recently graduated class 12th and now have two distinct career paths to choose from:
- A 5-year BA LLB from Hidayatullah national law university (HNLU) and a corporate law career after that (in tier 1 law firms, that's the goal). Law seems aligned with my interest in debate, writing, and argumentation. However, corporate law can be extremely work-heavy, high-pressure, and sometimes toxic in terms of long working hours and burnout. I am unsure whether I am ready to commit to that level of intensity and narrow professional specialization so early.
- A 3-year economics hons from Ashoka university (on a 100% scholarship) and then an MBA after ug. This path seems to offer more flexibility and broader exposure to strategy/marketing/consulting-type roles, but I am unsure whether I would enjoy the quantitative/business-oriented direction long-term.
My core strengths are public speaking, leadership, writing, critical thinking and problem solving.
I am looking for guidance regarding which field aligns better with my interests and strengths between law and economics/business. Would love to hear insights and advice from students/professionals in both fields
My qualifications and co-curriculars are:
- Leadership roles: Head Boy / Vice Head Boy / club president roles
- Debates & public speaking (intra/inter-school, international panel discussions with UNICEF & Learning Planet Festival)
- MUNs: Leadership roles, Executive Board member, multiple delegate roles
- President of Oxfam Club; led a socio-economic upliftment project for local slums.
- Content writing internships (literature and cultural festivals)
- Founding editor of school newsletter
- Participated and won in shark tank style competitions
- Legal internship under a High Court advocate
