Blown away by Summer ‘26

I am new to Ffern. I signed up for the pocket ledger and just received my small vial of summer ‘26, and y’all WHAT? I have been having so much trouble finding perfumes that I love. Most things seem too strong or too cologne-y for me, or there’s an odd note I don’t love, or I like the top notes but the dry-down smells generic. My favorite fragrance house up to now has been Jo Malone. I guess I don’t really need a frag to be complex or esoteric, I just want it to smell beautiful.

Guys I’m in love with Summer ‘26!! It’s the most beautiful honeyed herbal floral, like a real garden in the late summer/early fall when the sun is still warm but the flowers are starting to age. Or the smell of pressed and dried rose petals but without the funky element. I can’t stop smelling my wrist. It’s so delicate. Now I’m really excited about Fall ‘26! I really expected to be underwhelmed because I almost always am, and this is such a lovely surprise.

TDF Stages 19/20 in the Alps, which hotel?

This or that? Which of these is easier to travel from? Which is more charming? Our plan is to rent a car and bikes and ride bikes/take ski lifts around the area. My husband will be fine with everything, he’s a fit and experienced cyclist. I am fine on a bike but not very active in general, though I will be riding and jogging more to get ready for this trip.

Where should we stay between these two spots? Any feedback is appreciated!

I’m surprising my husband with a trip to France to see some of the Tour for his 50th birthday. I didn’t realize the Alpe d’Huez hotels sell out so fast and I’m trying to figure out the best plan for lodgings. I currently have July 23-26 booked at a hotel in Grenoble but would like to be closer if possible.

I have one night booked at the Grandes Rousses with the hope of being able to extend it if they have cancelations.

I also have 23-26 booked in Auris at the Residence Odalys Les Balcons d’Aurea, more of an aparthotel situation.

There are still some choices in Les Deux Alpes but I’m just not sure what will work best. I’m renting a car but will have to return it in Grenoble and take the train in the morning on the 26th to try to catch some of the last Paris stage which will be a hustle. With the 3 stages in the Alps with different routes, will it be best to stay in Auris or Les Deux Alpes, or is Grenoble fine and just drive as close as we can get and bike or walk? Auris seems to have a ski lift but stage 20 goes really close to Les Deux Alpes.

I just don’t know enough about the area to know. Also Expedia is showing the walk from Auris to Alpe d’Huez as being 1 minute which sounds very wrong. Maybe that includes the ski lift? Help! 🤪

I posted the other day looking for input on where to stay, Tuileries or Montmartre, but this is a more specific question about getting there from Gare de Lyons around 12:30pm.

Current hotel choice is right off Rue de Rivoli across from Tuileries Garden, and that seems walkable from the metro (gare de lyons) since it seems the Tuileries stations will be closed all day. Montmartre seems like it might be harder to get to, and those stations close at 1 which is maybe cutting it close.

Can someone with local knowledge give perspective on what will be better? Potential Montmartre hotels are Terass” Hotel, Hotel Monsieur Aristide, and Hotel des Arts. Terass” seems like it could have a great view from the room, but so does our current Tuileries hotel. Switching to Montmartre would give us more time to get settled I think but I don’t really know for sure. We’ll be staying for 4 days so that’s another consideration for location.

Any help is appreciated! TIA.
