Only just arrived, and want to understand what's going on? Here's your sources.

Some people seem to be skipping the Megathread's and posting comments asking for an overview, other people are even trying to create whole posts wanting an explanation, which are being fielded by the Automod, to prevent the sub being overwhelmed with the same question.

This isn't for anyone who's been following the saga from the beginning, its for people new, or newish to the sub who want to catch up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I shouldn't have to say this, but following the news that some members went straight from the "AMA from a member who attended Callum's sentencing" straight to Phil's Insta to harass him - Don't fucking do that.

These are real people not your entertainment. You won't be the first to message them, and they will not respond to you, have some decorum. Callum's the only proven criminal - those in or around his circle should be treated with the same respect you would expect yourself.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's what I think are the pertinent posts:

Quick clarifications:

  • Drew Screenshot:
    • This was a random screenshot showing as being from someone named "Drew" It contained no identifiers, no source, no indication if it was actually Drew from Storror, or some random Drew, or even if the screenshot was real - no one has come forward to claim it was real, nor offered any evidence - I believe it to be the result of trolling at this point.
  • Toby accusations:
    • I've seen one screenshot that showed Mercedes messaging "Toby" but this screenshot did not have a response attached - nor was it validated, some people are suggesting there are others.

Extras:

This isn't going to be a repeat of the original Megathread, so feel free to post additional resources or sources, but don't expect me to update the post, the last one damn near killed me.

Thank you all. Its a rough time for everyone, but the community has truly shown their colours today, and those colours are glorious.

I have been dreading today, we all had an image of what the sentence would look like, and I think we all knew it would be disappointing. I was prepared for absolute carnage.

You've all been exemplary, the most work I have had is overriding reddit filters and approving posts that were appropriate for the situation and news but that triggered the site filters simply due to the subject material.

This might be the end of Storror, it might not - but I want you all to know that from my perspective, you are all a credit to the community that Storror built, and watching the community cope and come to terms with this news with decorum has actually given me more hope that Storror will continue in some vein more than any logical or optimistic post ever could.

The Storror megathread is now archived, a special thanks to everyone who contributed.

It is very likely that the sub will be shifted to community only mode prior to Monday's Storror video for obvious reasons. Please ensure you have joined the sub prior to it to avoid being subject to more heavy moderation, the automod can only do so much, and its the cleanest way to try and maintain the balance of allowing people to express themselves without getting overwhelmed with trolls.

Again, thank you to you all. You are a credit to your community.
NAG.

Unconfirmed info appears to suggest that Callum Powell has received a one year suspended sentence for his crimes.

Now confirmed:

Sentencing Remarks in case or R v Callum Powell - delivered PDF

"When you were arrested and interviewed by the police you initially denied knowingly seeking out these sorts of images for your own sexual gratification and suggested that you may have inadvertently received these images on your devices because you had used an Artificial Intelligence software programme that removes clothes from images you have downloaded from Instagram. However, you soon went on to admit that you had obtained sexual gratification from images of children, and you pleaded guilty to all offences, thereby avoiding the need for a trial."

"The Sentencing Guidelines, which I am required to follow, indicate that a custodial sentence of one year or less is appropriate in this case. Some may find it difficult to understand why offending of such a repugnant nature does not result in immediate imprisonment. However, judges do not sentence according to personal opinion, public pressure or public outrage. They sentence according to the law enacted by Parliament and the Sentencing Guidelines issued by the Sentencing Council. Applying those principles faithfully to the facts of this case, I am satisfied that the custodial term of one year should be suspended for a period of 12 months, as recommended by the pre-sentence report. I will also require you to undertake 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days with the probation service to tackle many of the issues that have likely contributed to the commission of these offences. Mr Powell, as I’m sure has been explained to you by your legal team, a suspended sentence means that if you were to commit any further offences in the next year then that 12 month sentence will very likely be activated. The same outcome is likely to result if you fail to attend your appointments with probation."
