I feel depressed at the thought of leaving vet med behind

I’m currently entering my second year of vet school. I worked my ass off to get into veterinary school, i accumulated over 1000 hours of work experience in high school working in farms, shelters, clinics, zoos and ect… Yet, once I got into vet school despite getting good grades and enjoying the subject… I just feel so discouraged. I feel like im blindly walking towards of pit of despair. Every single vet I have shadowed has told me not to become a vet, and it doesn’t seem to get better in different countries (eg Hong Kong where pay is much higher for vets). I’ve seen a lot of negativity about the career online too. I also feel like once I’m in, there’s no escape from vet med, which scares me.

I feel like I’m not passionate enough, that I don’t deserve to be a vet, I thought about switching fields in order to earn more money or have a better work life balance many, many times. My classmates, on the other hand, look like they are sure of themselves. But, even when I compared the salary, working conditions and working hours of vet med and dentistry, I just can’t seem to convince myself to leave vet med behind, I break down in tears every single time im one step away from switching to dentistry. It feels like im self sabotaging myself by taking away a part of my dream and identity. However, at the same time i love competing in horse riding, painting, archery and travelling frequently, all expensive hobbies that need free time and money.

Im stuck between this constant daily mind battle where imagine my life in both futures and the “what ifs”. Additionally, my family has financial issues so I would like to support them. Has anyone experienced the same, and what did you do in the end?

for more context I’m in France so salaries are no where near as high as that of the US

Lost a bunch of my friends this week. I want a new start

Hi!! I’m looking to make friends in 20F and would much prefer somewhere close to my age 18-26 to talk to! My social skills are very poor so I really welcome socially anxious people like me. I live in Spain so if anyone is from there that’s even better. I’ve managed to maintain long term friendships on this app so I would really appreciate someone who is serious about making friends.

Update: My Landlord wants me to pay nearly 1000 euros for minor water damages

I’m a first year student in Spain and my landlord and I had a shouting match in the apartment over the water damage on the floor of the living room which was caused by a glass of water. My roommate who has already left the country, wishes to continue renting next year, that my landlord is using as leverage to have me sign a document today saying I owe him this charge or he will take it out of my and my roommates deposit. Thanks to everyone’s response last time I followed through with the advice and didn’t sign the document. I also learned about small claims court thanks to the comments and I’m starting this process (virtually). I do not know what else I can do and I’m planning to leave before I tell him I’m taking him to small claims court because he got aggressive already today. I know this isn’t a rental or property subreddit but there seems to be a lot of people with knowledge about this here especially concerning floor issues. Both of my parents are quite absent in my life so If anyone else would give me advice on what I can do even more than what I already am that would be great

My landlord said I have to pay for entire floor renewal

Hi I’m a college student and I accidentally spilled some water unknowingly and left it overnight resulting in this. My landlord says I need to pay for an entire floor renewal because of this damage , I find that hard to believe. I searched all around the internet but couldn’t get a clear answer. I only have one parent and he’s not even in the same continent as me so I want to make sure I’m not taking advantage of. My question is not how to fix this but rather if it is really true that this damage requires and entire floor renewal?

edit: got a second opinion from another contractor who was thankfully very honest with me and told me outright that it wasn’t my fault and that I shouldn’t be expected to pay for the entire floor replacement, however, I’m afraid that my landlord will still try to keep my deposit. I’m not sure how it works, can he just keep it and not give it back to me and I would have to go to court to get it back? It’s a 1000 euros. I’m based in Spain so I’m not sure how many people on the subreddit knows about the laws here.
