[39M South Hills] Seeking Tabletop RPG players who love telling cool stories (and actual friends!)
Hi everyone! I posted a couple of months ago, but I wanted to do one more just in case anyone else is interested.
I’m a 39M living in Bridgeville. My husband and I moved to the area a few years ago, and while I’ve hit up some board game meetups, I’m still looking for my people, the kind of friends who enjoy the social side of gaming as the actual game itself.
When running games, I gravitate towards being a "narrative-first" GM, so I'm more into collaborative storytelling and character drama than tactical dungeon crawls or math-heavy combat. I’m looking to run some one-shots in some of the systems that have been collecting on my shelves with the hope of eventually forming a consistent group.
I’d love to start with a one-shot of Vaesen (think spooky 19th-century Nordic mystery/horror). If we click, I have a long list of other stuff I’ve been wanting to run, like The One Ring 2e, Trail of Cthulhu, Daggerheart, Deadlands, and 13th Age. I also have a number of board games if people just want to hang out and play those.
A couple of callouts to see if my table might be a great fit for you:
- The Social Vibe: I really like getting to know the people I’m gaming with, so I prefer to hang out and chat for 15-30 minutes before we actually start rolling dice. If you’re looking to show up, play, and head out immediately, we probably won't be a great match.
- Inclusivity: It’s a big deal to me that the table is an inclusive, safe space for everyone (LGBTQ+, BIPOC, etc.). I plan to use the standard safety tools like Lines & Veils to make sure everyone feels comfortable at the table. Obviously, bigotry and edgelords won’t be tolerated.
- Newbie-Friendly: I like teaching games, so whether you’ve played lots of different games in the past or never rolled anything but a 6-sided-die, you’ll be welcome at my table!
- Timing: The best time for me would be Saturdays or Sundays in the afternoons**.**
I’d love to meet those interested over coffee here in the South Hills before we game together, just to get to know each other a little. The first one or two one-shots will be in a public space.
If you’re interested, drop a comment below. I have a quick Google Form I’m using to keep track of everyone’s schedules and game tastes that I'll send to those who reach out. Looking forward to meeting some of my fellow South Hills geeks!
