Please guide seniors 😑
I’m a dropper and scored only 80 percentile this year and got 85% in CBSE 12th boards. Right now I’m in a huge dilemma because I’m not getting anything that feels good enough. I won’t blame anything, but I genuinely had serious health issues during my drop year which affected my preparation badly.
Now my parents are saying either:
join a government college through REAP (I’m General Male from Rajasthan), or
take a second drop and aim for an NIT.
But honestly, I really don’t want to join the Rajasthan govt colleges I’m getting.
From what I researched, I may get Mechanical at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. And genuinely speaking, now I’m super serious about my career. Jo bhi karunga ab faad dunga usme.
I wanted honest guidance from seniors regarding this:
Is Mechanical at Thapar worth taking through an education loan if I grind very hard there?
I’ve heard branch upgradation through the December test is possible. How realistic is it?
Also I’ve heard many students there are not very serious about placements, so if someone works consistently, can they still get a strong placement from Mechanical?
Is the ROI too risky considering the fees are around 30+ lakhs including hostel/mess?
I’m confused between:
Second drop for JEE,
Thapar Mechanical + hard work,
Rajasthan govt college.
Please guide honestly, especially seniors from Thapar or people who faced similar situations.
Thank you 🙏

I’m a dropper and scored only 80 percentile this year and have only 85 in cbse 12th boards now I’m in a very big turmoil kyuki I’m not getting anything good. I won’t blame anything but I had serious health issues during drop year. Now my parents are telling me either I join a govt college through reap (btw I’m general male from Rajasthan) or take a second drop and get an nit but I really don’t want to get into govt colleges of Rajasthan. As per I researched I think I might get mechanical in Thapar and genuinely telling you I’m super serious. Ab toh jo bhi karunga faad dunga usme. As per I researched mechanical at Thapar is really good and also we have December test so is it worth it to join it via financing fees through edu loan and then grinding hard either with ai and all in mechanical or upgrading branch in December test. Or I’ve heard ki mostly bache in Thapar are non serious regarding placements so if you grind hard you can get a very good placement too

Please please guide

Thank you
