Lock switch back light not working

Im not sure if this is just a faulty wire or all LEAFs are like this, but the lock, unlock and window lock button are the only switches that wont light up at night. I swear I thought they are supposed to be lit up but I dont remember.

Its a bit hard to see them at night so I bought a whole new switch console that has backlit switches and those 3 switches still arent lit up.

Is this likely just a wiring problem or is this something that all LEAFs have in common?

Joining the 50K Club

Woohoo, a whopping (not really) 50k miles accumulated on my car. I bought this guy used at 31k miles and I loved all 19k miles I've put on it since three years ago.

These cars are dirt cheap to run, cost almost nothing in maintenance, I get crazy reliability all without needing gas!

Ive had so much fun taking this guy way out to the Anza Borrego desert where I've gone for a school field trip and a 3 day camp which I was determined to do in my old ev. Even drove all the way from SD to LA, it was a fun experience but I certainly wont be doing that again.

Easily my all time favorite car and I'm excited for the next years to come.

Ive tried to restore my headlights on my 1st gen LEAF, theyre very *bulbous* and I cant justify using a rotary to sand them down so ive been using kits do do it. I keep messing up or not doing enough sanding so they go back to yellow in 6-9 months.

So... I bought another Cerakote kit (2k & 3k grit), 390 grit, and 600 grit sandpaper. I want to do it properly so I dont need to worry about it for a while. Theres still old sanding marks and splotchy parts on my headlights from the last times I've tried and not sanded it down fully.

This time i wont stop until its all the same uniform color.

So my question is, do I need 800 and 1000 grit to get a good job or can I skip from 600 to 2000?

Do i really need to polish my headlights after sanding it down? Or can I skip that, clean it up and use the ceramic instead?

Any other recommendations?
