Why do faculty expect every student project to have something completely unique or innovative? Not everyone can sit down and invent a new idea or technology every time they have a project ༎ຶ⁠‿⁠༎ຶ

Most software , ai, os and other subjects projects are based on things that already exist. Even if you come up with an idea, there’s a good chance someone has already built something similar. They just teach theory and expect to build a whole system that's patent level.
