Felipe santos

Do you guys agree with what Felipe santos does?
Does MCC really approve of him using his position as someone who is meant to help IMG’s as someone who is really just using IMG’s to make an absolute killing? ($$$) . I get that his resources help people, but it targets a very specific audience, and it absolutely preys on those who are desperate to get back into medicine.

I went to his website today, and even his fellowship searcher has a membership price 😂
Then he acts as if he’s god or something. Like he’s the messiah that helped all the IMG’s through their licensing journeys as if he never extorted anyone.

I think Felipe santos position with MCC and what he sells independently is a conflict of interest to his position with MCC. That AND he’s super rude whenever addressing people’s concerns and questions on his Facebook stories.

I’ve seen so many times people asking questions like: “what are my odds of getting into this program”

And he replies like: I’m not a mind reader..

Sarcastic af. Rude.
Idk.. guys a perfect example of an IMG who was lucky enough to get licensed in a tough system and then turned on his fellow img.. it happens all the time.

Just my 2 cents. Guys a creep

Caribbean IMG - caRMS

Good day everyone,

I am an IMG from Cuba with 3 years post grad training in family
Medicine, and 3 years independent practise. I’m currently working in a clinic in Ontario in a reduced capacity as I am not licensed yet. I will
Receive references from the physicians here when I decide to do caRMS.
I know, I technically can do PRA but at the moment I do not feel that I could pass this CFA. I want to give myself the best chance, so I’ve decided to either get hired in another province as a CA or AP to gain more Canadian medical
Experience. Currently I’m
Preparing for MCCQE and NAC OSCE after.
I’ve seen bad reviews online and I’m sure this doesn’t account for all IMG’s like me, but I’ve heard that carribean based IMG (I’m from Cuba) tend to go unmatched even with good examples scores and references

Do I even stand a chance in residency matching (family medicine) or should I just try for PRA? My clinical currency is expired Nov 2027.

I’d hope
To apply for caRMS R-1 in the 2028 match.

Thank you. 🙏

IPE VS CLINICAL CURRENCY (PRA)

One thing I find a bit confusing as a fully trained family physician from Cuba is that PRA programs in every province require independent practise (2 years on average) + clinical currency ( x amount of hours over x amount of time- which expires)

My question is. If I’ve obtained 3 years of independent practise in my home country, is this metric separately measured from clinical currency.

For example:

PRA requires 2 years IPE
Clinical currency required is 960 in last 3 years.

My clinical currency expires November 2027 as that was the date I last served in my clinic.

Does it even matter to work as a CA or an AP? Does the independent practise also expire? Or is that something that is just a solid metric? I understand that CA and AP restore clinical currency, but does that even matter if your independent experience expires?

Before anyone advises this:

No I cannot return home. It’s under incredible political unrest.

IMG opportunities in Canada 🇨🇦

I grew up in Canada and I’ve always know it as a place of grand opportunity. Recently my opinion has changed quite a bit.

I have had a chance to really look at the state of healthcare in this country and determine that Canada is quite predatory in nature in regard to attracting IMG’s from around the globe.

They’ll offer attractive physician programs for immigration, they’ll promise a thriving career, and when you arrive.. there is no opportunity. Instead you are faced with a bureaucratic nightmare, and you question whether being a doctor is even worth it anymore.

Canada is just straight up preying on international physicians at this point. The country still has programs offering fast tracked visas and immigration in exchange for international doctors even though they know they won’t he able to promise a career to all of them. Canada simply underfunds healthcare. There is not enough opportunity for everyone, yet Canadas healthcare system is on the verge of complete collapse.

My question is: How have the IMG’s of Canada not protested or acted on this? Are your careers not worth it? Why is all of this still an issue.

Ace Qbank

I’m improving overall with AceQbank. If I consistently get a high average on my question blocks is that an indicator of being well prepared or not? I understand the PE’s are a better indicator but tbh MCC is just short of being extortionists. Hard to get by when things are so expensive.

Yes I did the 1$ PE

Clinical currency

I’ve noticed that clinical currency seems to be the number one career killer for ITP’s pursuing PRA or PER.
What exactly is an ITP meant to do if they lapse?

I understand many ITP’s return to their home country to become current again however it’s not possible as I am from a country that is currently inaccessible by flight.

So what exactly would I do? My clinical currency lapses in November 2027. All of these programs seem incredibly competitive and I’m scheduled for MCCQE in October this year.

I’ve applied for associate positions in BC and will apply for CA positions in Manitoba. I would apply for PRA, however I don’t feel I’m ready yet and want to be able to give it my best shot. Moving to another province to pursue PRA, and failing would be devastating. I currently live in Ontario, and I really wish there was a license here that offered a bridge for clinical currency like other provinces.

The fall back was caRMS but apparently even for redoing FM residency (any) you need to be clinically current too, which I’ll never understand as residency is a learning position. I’m sure it was intentionally done that way. Does caRMS define clinical currency differently than PRA programs would? Can you even work licensed before doing caRMS? It’s so confusing to me how people can be expected to get clinical currency before residency lol.

Any advice would be great. 👍🏻

Thanks 🙏

IMG failed PE by a long shot

My husband is an ITP from Cuba, 3 years PGT in family medicine and 3 years independent practise in clinic. He has been studying here in Canada for months.. many hours per day. He’s been focusing on Toronto notes, ethics by Felipe santos, and some smaller resources. He just did the 1$ PE on the MCC website and failed dramatically. 85/230 (85 questions correct out of 230 total questions) I don’t know what score that would translate to on the real MCCQE but something tells me 37% is unacceptable.
We thought with his experience he would be at the very least a passing grade.. very humbling day for someone with so much experience that seems to not matter.

His real exam is scheduled for October 14th. And I just feel overwhelmed for him. We’re tapped for money as all of these study resources are just short of complete extortion imo. Can’t afford all these resources that cost 100s of dollars.

Any advice would help.
