A Greek nugget in Matthew 25

I was going through Matthew 25 in my Bible reading and wanted to share something I enjoyed:

Matt. 25:1 At that time the kingdom of the heavens will be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went forth to meet (Gr. ὑπάντησιν) the bridegroom.

Matt. 25:6 But at midnight there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Go forth to meet (Gr. ἀπάντησιν) him!

The footnote in verse 6 on this word says "A word different from meet in v. 1. The word in v. 1 refers to meeting someone alone and in secret, whereas the word here refers to meeting someone openly according to plan and ceremony."

Later, in verse 12, we see that the Lord says to the foolish virgins:

Matt. 25:12 But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I do not know (Gr. οἶδα) you.

The footnote says that not know "carries the sense of not recognize, not approve"

If we don't meet the Lord alone and in secret during our life on earth today, when the time comes to meet Him openly at His coming, He will not recognize us. Today, we have the privilege of not only getting to know the Lord, but also letting the Lord get to know us so that when He comes, He will recognize and approve us. I think it's really sweet that He also is invested in having a personal relationship with us!
